Generous Act of Kindness

I wasn't sure it was going to happen and couldn't get the appointment confirmed until late today. But we finally got the appointment confirmed and Sarah-Grace did an amazing thing tonight. She donated her 8 and 1/2 inches of hair to a foundation that takes hair and makes wigs for cancer patients. She been asking to get her hair cut for a while, and after her Aunt JuJu (Julie) donated her hair last month we started talking about Sarah-Grace donating too. It took a few weeks to get the donation packet in the mail which gave us some time to make SURE this was something Sarah-Grace understood and really wanted to do. I was so nervous that she would freak out once the hair was cut off, but she was so happy. She just grinned from ear to ear and kept tossing her new short hair over her shoulders. She looks so much older to us (which is why Tad thinks we should immediately start growing it out again). Luckily her hair grows at amazing rate so in a couple months it should be long again. I'm very proud. I had to hold back tears tonight at a few moments, but we are all happy with her decision and this generous act of kindness.
Her hair really is cute now, its hard to tell because in the after pictures her hair is wet. We had to wash her hair, dry it (which is really fun for a 4 year old with that much hair), cut it for donation, wash it AGAIN and trim it to even it out. After all that she was fine leaving with it wet - she didn't want to sit still anymore. We'll get some new ones up soon with her new haircut dry.
